What more can be said about the greatness of “Double Indemnity,” “Sunset Boulevard,” and “Some Like It Hot”? If director Billy Wilder had stopped there he’d still be considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time — not to mention an even better screenwriter, one able to combine razor-sharp wit with deeply felt empathy for his characters. Today, June 22, is Wilder’s 113th birthday — he died in 2002, at age 95.
