Last Friday saw the limited release of the Palme d’Or-winning “Parasite,” and people can’t get enough of Bong Joon-ho’s family funhouse of class anxiety. As the hour of capitalism grows ever later, it’s safe to assume that financial inequality will become an increasingly prevalent (or at least increasingly overt) focus among popular filmmakers of all stripes.
With that in mind, we asked our panel to name the 21st century film that most powerfully explores the social dynamics of capitalism thus far. The results can be found below in alphabetical order.
