The 7 Best Movies New to Netflix in July 2020

Netflix's best July titles include comfort food like "Sleepless in Seattle" and new Originals like Gina Prince-Bythewood's "The Old Guard."

“The Old Guard”

Without pretending that there’s any real rhyme or reason to how and when Netflix chooses to license classic library titles, it seems like the streamer’s July lineup is slanted towards lighter fare; the kind of cinematic comfort mood that might help you stay chill at the height of summer.

The platform’s latest release slate is filled with breezy rom-coms like “Definitely, Maybe” and “Sleepless in Seattle,” chicken soup movies like “Pride and Prejudice” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” and — perhaps most importantly — Ben Affleck’s “The Town.” Netflix’s big Original movies this month are toplined by “The Kissing Booth 2” and Gina Prince-Bythewood’s “The Old Guard,” which stars Charlize Theron as an immortal mercenary in what promises to be the most credible new action movie that we get this summer.

And for anyone less interested in escapism than they are in grappling with the ugliness of the world outside their window, well, there’s always “Schindler’s List.”

Here are the seven best movies coming to Netflix in July 2020.
