For movie fans, January is often the time for a deep exhale. The increasingly condensed awards season ensures that new releases begin to pick up in October and don’t slow down until the new year.

So January is usually something of a graveyard at the multiplexes, and many use the month as an opportunity to catch up on films they missed from last year or to pursue other interests.
