And another streaming service contender enters the arena. For many, the Discovery slate of channels are the best in class for comfort viewing, whether you enjoy the high-octane food frenzies over on the Food Network, the messy relationships found on TLC, or the real-life animal content of the Discovery Channel.
With its launch on January 4, the new Discovery+ streaming service boasts “50 original titles and over 150 hours of exclusive content,” according to their press release, comprising several segments of the Discovery arm from lifestyle to cooking, true crime, and nature. Within the first year the company hopes to include over 1,000 hours of content. The service costs $4.99 a month to use, although select Verizon customers will get a year included in their plans.
