Among November's offerings on Netflix are "Spawn," "Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool," "His House," "Sweetheart," and more.

The sheer number of films streaming on Netflix on any given day can make finding and deciding which films to watch an arduous journey, not to mention navigating an interface that’s not exactly the most conducive to discovery.

To assist on this cinematic journey, IndieWire runs a monthly series that highlights movies and television series worth streaming on every major platform in the U.S., including Netflix. As an extension of that popular ongoing series, we’ve also curated lists of films that specifically tell Black stories and are streaming on those same major streaming platforms.

This month’s offerings on Netflix cross genres, including the film that arguably launched the current superhero movie craze (no, not “Blade”), an exhaustive documentary on music giant Miles Davis, a frightening exploration of the refugee experience wrapped in a horror movie, a lean but mean creature feature, and more.
