Regardless of what some documentaries on Hollywood will tell you, the real art and craft of Hollywood filmmaking did not begin in 1967. In fact, before it crumbled, the studio system produced thousands of quality films from hundreds of talented filmmakers. But there is a wall between old films and modern audiences — and it isn’t just a result of limited offerings on streaming platforms (which is its own problem). Many younger audiences tend to view classic Hollywood as more than just dated in terms of its cultural references; instead, the perception is that they lack technical, filmmaking, and story sophistication.
