One film Scorsese praised was “The Band Wagon,” a Vincente Minnelli musical starring Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse as bickering stars of a Broadway production. “It’s my favorite of the Vincente Minnelli musicals,” Scorsese said. “I love the storyline that combines Faust and a musical comedy, and the disaster that results.”
