And so begins a new year. There’s hope. There’s promise. There’s a giant collection of rebooted properties headed to streaming services.

To be fair, though, 2023 isn’t just starting as an intellectual property free-for-all. Yes, there’s the usual treasure trove of literary adaptations as some networks begin to expand out some franchise hopefuls. But there’s also some genuine cause for excitement as the calendar turns over. Acclaimed storytellers are bringing season-long tales to the screen, free from any source material. Different shows are tackling some of the biggest questions of today with alternating doses of humor and drama.

And in the middle of all of it, some generational stars flex their TV muscles, one of the most storied video games of all time gets a big adaptation, and some network sitcom classics get a fresh look decades after their initial heyday.

As usual, this monthly collection of shows straddles streaming, broadcast, and cable, including shows produced all around the world. Some of these were highlighted on our team-assembled list of Anticipated 2023 TV. Maybe — just maybe — a few others might just sneak their way into the upper echelon of what this year has to offer. Can’t wait to see if that’s the case.
