The fun thing about TV is that the embers of the Emmys pyre aren’t even cool yet, and there’s already a fresh wave of new series looking to snatch their share of the television world’s attention. (Determine your preferred level of sarcasm in the second word of that sentence at your own convenience.)
October brings a fresh new collection of series premieres, and only some of them are geared around capitalizing on any holiday spookiness. Some may not even feel like premieres necessarily, given that they share titles/premises with preexisting films/novels/franchises. But such is the nature of these things. We have a handful of new animated series, geared at either adult or younger audiences. TV is going to space, grappling with the paranormal, and dealing with the arrival of an unfamiliar species. And through it all, there are documentaries designed to be a window into experiences many viewers will never have.
As the calendar year begins to wane and the distant hum of best-of lists starts to rumble from the deep, it appears that TV is going to stomp through the fall as much as it possibly can.
