To the growing list of shows that seem to be channeling our anxieties about possible imminent futures, add this graphic novel adaptation set agains the backdrop of a second U.S. Civil War. Rosario Dawson stars as a medic racing through the remains of New York City, in search of her missing son. In order to be reunited with him, she’ll have to contend with the emergent rival gangs that have sprung up in the area in the wake of the growing conflict, including one headed up by the ruthless Parco Delgado (Benjamin Bratt). Episodes from the season, directed by Ava DuVernay and Ernest Dickerson, will premiere at SXSW in the coming weeks. —Steve Greene
