Deadline reports that Albert Hughes, in his first solo jam outside of his partnership with Allen Hughes (“Menace II Society,” “The Book Of Eli“), will direct “The Solutrean.” Inspired by the idea tossed around by some folks that Europeans settled in North America over 20,000 years ago, the movie stars Jóhannes Haukur Johannesson, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jens Hultén, Natasha Wilson, Marcin Kowalczyk, and Spencer Bogaert, and tells the Ice Age set story about a hunting trip the goes bad, and the tough journey home that follows. Sony is ramping things up, with IMAX-3D cameras rolling on Monday. Let’s hope Hughes has his own flavor to bring and we’re not just looking at “The Revenant: Even More Olden Times.” No release date has been set, but I’d wager this won’t arrive until next year.
