Alchemy has closed a deal for Ben Wheatley’s hotly-anticipated action thriller “Free Fire,” starring Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Cillian Murphy and many more, beating out distributors such as A24 and the Weinstein Company, as first reported by Deadline.
Executive produced by Martin Scorsese, “Free Fall” is one of the biggest acquisitions to come out of the American Film Market, with an estimated figure of over $3 million.

Set in 1970s Boston, “Free Fall” tells the story of a woman (Larson) who sets up a meeting with two gang members at an abandoned warehouse to purchase guns. The film is the latest from up-and-coming British director Ben Wheatley, following efforts such as “High Rise” and “A Field in England.” The movie is based on a script Wheatley co-wrote with Amy Jump.

Andy Starke and Wheatley’s Rook Films are producing “Free Fire,” which was co-financed by Film4 and BFI. “Free Fire” looks to be a major coup for Alchemy, a company rapidly growing into a competitive player in the indie film landscape with films such as “The Lobster” and “Mia Madre” on their upcoming slate.
