Allen & Co.’s Sun Valley Media Mogul Guest List Includes Buffet, Zuckerberg, Gates, Murdoch

Allen & Co.’s annual summer Sun Valley, Idaho event starts next week. As usual, it’s where the world’s top media moguls gather to talk shop and enjoy swanky outdoor family activities, joining a who’s who guest list. This year that includes billionaires Warren Buffet, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg.

Rupert Murdoch, Google chairman Eric Schmidt, Amazon chief exec Jeff Bezos and Apple CEO Tim Cook are also on the roster for mogul Herbert Allen’s sunny conference, along with New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The Sun Valley gathering has been the site of some of the media world’s biggest deals, including cabler Comcast’s purchase of NBC Universal. Remember when Zuckerberg donated $100 million to Newark schools a week prior to the release of “The Social Network”? The wheels of that deal began turning at Sun Valley, when the Facebook tycoon was introduced to Booker.

Other attendees to Sun Valley, now in its 30th year, include NBC CEO Les Moonves, IACI Chairman Barry Diller, Dreamworks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and Michael Eisner.
