BAFTA-Winning Filmmaker David O. Russell to Deliver Annual David Lean Lecture

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced that BAFTA-winning director, producer and writer David O. Russell will deliver the David Lean Lecture on Saturday, December 19 at BAFTA’s headquarters in Piccadilly, London. Russell is a two-time BAFTA winner and five-time Oscar nominee, making the announcement all the more fitting for this year’s speaker selection.
The lecture that Russell will deliver was first created to honor the legacy of the director David Lean, who was one of the founding members of the British Film Academy in 1947. The lecture is financed by The David Lean Foundation, which often collaborates with BAFTA’s initiatives to support the British filmmaker’s innovation and legacy. Every year, the David Lean Lecture provides audiences a once-in-a-lifetime insider’s perspective of the British film and televisions industries from some of the industry’s most experienced and talented filmmakers.
Robert Altman, Paul Greengrass, David Lynch, Lone Scherfig, Oliver Stone and Peter Weir have all delivered their own lectures over the years.
