Cannes: Magnolia Acquires U.S. Distribution Rights to Tobias Lindholm’s ‘A War’

According to Variety, Danish writer-director Tobias Lindholm’s third feature, “A War,” has been picked up by Magnolia Pictures for distribution in the United States.

Similar to his previous two films, “R” and “A Hijacking” – both of which contemplate themes of violence – “A War,” will explore the impact of violence through the story of a Danish commander who, upon his return to Afghanistan, is being charged with committing a war crime.

Lindholm will re-unite with actor Pilou Asbaek on “A War.” Nordisk is producing, as well as overseeing distribution in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland. Studiocanal will handle the territories of France, Germany, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.

No word yet on when the film will go into production.
