The act of telling a joke sometimes means taking an audience to the edge of good taste, and for some comedians, pushing them right over the line. And for those who are truly taking risks, it can mean courting controversy, but are some people too easily offended? Should comedians apologize if their jokes go too far? Directed by Ted Balaker, and featuring Gilbert Gottfried, Adam Carolla, Lisa Lampanelli, Penn Jillette, and more, the film offers a thought-provoking and wry exploration of outrage culture through the lens of stand-up comedy, in the age of social media, where the ability to organize a groundswell of opposition to — and public censure of — the offender and their material has never been more powerful. And as you’ll see in this exclusive clip, some comics are pushing back.
The doc will world premiere on Friday at 7:15pm at the IFC Center. Watch below.
