Donald Glover Joins The Cast of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” has added a new face to its cast. Deadline reports that Donald Glover is set to join the web-slinger’s ensemble in the Jon Watts-directed action flick.

Details of Glover’s character are being kept secret at this time, as much of the rest of the movie’s plot is as well. The actor had previously been part of a “Spider-Man” fan campaign that emerged when Sony was rebooting the franchise in 2012. Fanatics wanted Glover to star in the film, but the part eventually went to Andrew Garfield. He did end up voicing the mixed race Spidey Miles Morales in Disney XD’s animated series “Ultimate Spider-Man.”

This time around Tom Holland stars as Spider-Man. The film will focus on a teenage Peter Parker while he is in high school. Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man for the film and Michael Keaton is still in talks to play the villain. 

Additional cast members include Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Kenneth Choi as the school’s principal and Zendaya, soap-star Laura Harrier and “Dope” actor Tony Revolori in unknown roles. Amy Pascal and Marvel’s Kevin Feige will produce the film that is set to begin production later this month.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” will be released in theaters on July 7, 2017.
