WATCH: Suicides and Secrets Abound in Exclusive ‘Bridgend’ Trailer
KimStim has acquired all U.S. distribution rights to Jeppe Rønde’s “Bridgend,” including those for theatrical, non theatrical, home entertainment and TV. The film has been gaining critical momentum since its premiere at the 2015 Rotterdam Film Festival, screening at Goteborg and CPH PIX, with a Critics Award win at Fantasia Film Festival Montreal and a hat trick of Best Actress, Cinematography and Editing at Tribeca.
The film is a fictionalized account of the real Welsh town of Bridgend, where there have been dozens of unexplained suicides since 2007. “Bridgend” centers around a police investigator who is sent to the town to dig up some answers about the unexplained suicides, accompanied by his daughter Sara (Hannah Murray of “Game of Thrones”). The stakes of the investigation are raised when Sara falls in with a suicide cult that turns their peers’ deaths into a ritual bonding right.
KimStim is planning a limited theatrical release for “Bridgend” in early 2016.
