IFC Films has acquired North American rights to writer/director Matthew Brown’s “The Man Who Knew Infinity,” a biopic of self-taught Indian math genius Ramanujan (Dev Patel), who fights prejudice at Cambridge University on the eve of World War I with the help of professor and mentor G.H. Hardy (Jeremy Irons).
The recent TIFF world premiere, which TOH!’s Meredith Brody praised for its “earnest,” “resonant” lead performances, co-stars Stephen Fry and Toby Jones. IFC’s upcoming slate also includes Matteo Garrone’s Cannes entry “Tale of Tales,” and “Weekend” writer/director Andrew Haigh’s Berlin prizewinner, “45 Years.”
