IFC Films has announced the acquisition of all U.S. rights to Lone Scherfig’s "The Riot Club," which marked its world premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival this week.
Set amongst the privileged elite of Oxford University, “The Riot Club” follows Miles (Max Irons) and Alistair (Sam Claflin), two first year students determined to join the infamous Riot Club, where reputations can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening. The script was adapted by playwright Laura Wade from her play "Posh."
"Lone is an expert storyteller and this film is a darkly gleeful expose of the British elite unlike anything before it," said Jonathan Sehring, president of Sundance Selects/IFC Films.
No release date has yet been set.
