IFC Films Acquires Sundance Favorite 'The Sleepwalker'

IFC Films has acquired “The Sleepwalker,” Mona Fastvold’s debut feature. The film screened earlier this year in US Competition at Sundance and drew positive buzz.

The film tells the story of a young couple, Kaia and Andrew. While they are renovating Kaia’s family estate, they receive unexpected visitors: Kaia’s unstable sister Christine and her fiance Ira. Soon, with the past dredged up, tensions erupt and family drama unfolds. Things get real when one of the four principal characters goes missing, and the rest are left to solve the mystery.

“The Sleepwalker” was written by Fastvold and Brady Corbet, and produced by Karin Juhlsrud & Turid Øversveen for 4 ½ Films Norway. You might notice some familiar faces in Christopher Abbott (“Girls”) and Corbet (“Melancholia,” “Martha Marcy May Marlene”), who also stars in the film in addition to co-writing. IFC Films has announced a  November 21 release date.
