IFC Films Re-Teams With Michael Winterbottom For a Sequel to ‘The Trip’ Starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon

IFC Films has acquired U.S. rights to Michael Winterbottom’s upcoming comedy “The Trip to Italy,” the director’s follow-up to his 2010 roap trip comedy “The Trip,” which was also released by the company. The semi-fictional improvised film re-teams stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.  

In the sequel, Rob has been commissioned by a
newspaper to go on a driving tour of Italy from Liguria to Capri, partly
following in the footsteps of the great Romantic
poets. Steve joins him, and as they journey
through the beautiful Italian countryside, they talk about life,
relationships and their careers.

Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films, said “‘The Trip’

The deal for the film was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, Senior Vice
President of Acquisitions & Productions for Sundance Selects/IFC
Films with GoalpostFilm on behalf of the filmmakers.  Goalpost Film is
handling international sales.
