Critics and audiences haven’t been especially kind to “Independence Day: Resurgence,” but we still have another revived action franchise to put our hopes in. “Jason Bourne” hits theaters at the end of the month, and if the latest installment in the spy franchise lives up to its predecessors it could be a highlight of a lagging summer. Three new clips have been released from Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass’ latest collaboration (below).

None of these new glimpses will be unfamiliar to anyone who’s seen the prior three Bourne movies — “Identity,” “Supremacy” and “Ultimatum” — but they do appear appropriately kinetic. Damon chases through Vegas in a car in one and steals a motorcycle during the middle of a protest in another; as always, his exploits are interspersed with exasperated agents in their clandestine headquarters being reminded that, yes, Bourne is very much out of their league.
Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Tommy Lee Jones and Riz Ahmed co-star in this latest go-round, which presumably answers even more questions about Bourne’s past while somehow raising more. “Jason Bourne” opens July 29.
