Just Time Your Holiday Travel, Amazon Teams Up with JetBlue

The collaboration, begun in May and scheduled for completion across JetBlue’s fleet by Thanksgiving, enables Amazon Prime members to access the streaming service’s content free of charge through the airline’s free “Fly-Fi” broadband internet. In addition to movies and TV episodes, Amazon
Prime members will also be able to listen to more than one million songs
via Prime Music.

Even if you’re not a Prime user, the deal adds to JetBlue’s strong entertainment offerings: all flyers will be able to rent and/or purchase films, TV episodes, music, eBooks, apps, and games via Amazon. It also marks another attempt by the streaming service to increase brand visibility—and one a lot less controversial than painting New York subway cars with the insignias of Nazi germany and imperial Japan to promote “The Man in the High Castle.” (The ads are now being pulled.)

Our recommendations? For Prime members, alternate history thriller “The Man in the High Castle” is dark and diverting—you’ll while away the hours on board and be desperate for more—and the second season of Emmy winner “Transparent,” which premieres Dec. 11, may even be better than the first. (That said, the amount of sex and nudity on “Transparent” might make it slightly unsafe for public viewing. Just so you know.)

For non-members, Pixar’s “Inside Out” is perfect for young children prone to mile-high fussiness, Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck” and Melissa McCarthy’s “Spy” are two of the year’s comedy standouts, and the lovely “Mr. Holmes” stars an Oscar-worthy Ian McKellan. All are available for rent for under $5.
