Former child actor-turned-playwright and television director Matt Shakman’s narrative feature directorial debut, “Cut Bank,” was picked up for U.S. distribution by renowned independent distribution label A24.
“Cut Bank,” which is slated to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival next month, features an all-star cast including Liam Hemsworth, John Malkovich, Billy Bob Thornton, Bruce Dern, Teresa Palmer, Michael Stuhlbarg and Oliver Platt.
The film recounts the unfortunate series of events that end up consuming and rewriting the lives of the residents of a small town in Montana.
“I’m thrilled to team up with A24,” said Shakman. “Their smart, eclectic taste is inspiring. And their passion and plan for the film felt like the ideal way to bring it to the world.”
“Cut Bank” is slated to be released in 2015.
