What it’s about: Gold Party is a short documentary about the afterlife of gold; the movie profiles two gold scrap dealers and looks at what happens to precious metal after people sell it for cash

On the challenges:Security can be a real concern for people in the scrap metal world because of the money they handle, so a lot of people involved are publicity-shy and I was lucky to get permission from the people in the movie to follow them with a camera. When I was leaving the gold refinery I filmed at, I had to be searched with a metal-detecting wand to make sure I wasn’t carrying out any gold with me – I understand that, though, it’s very valuable!”

What’s next:I’m working on putting together footage I shot during a residency I did in Mumbai, India – there were plenty of great things to film there – and researching and taking first steps on new projects. More documentary shorts are definitely on the agenda.”
