The game of musical chairs on the global film festival circuit continues as Olivier Père leaves his role as artistic director at the Festival del film Locarno after three years. He's moving on to become the General Director of Arte France Cinema. This means he is no longer a candidate for the New York Film Festival, which at the end of 2012 loses director Richard Pena after 25 years. The Film Society of Lincoln Center is searching for his replacement.
At a Board of Governors meeting on September 4, Locarno festival president Marco Solari and the Directorate will present their suggestion for a successor to the Board, which nominates the Artistic Director. Following that meeting in Locarno there will be a press conference to announce their decision.
