Bong’s previous films have been widely acclaimed by audiences and critics. His first film “Barking Dogs Never Bite” follows an out-of-work college professor who abuses and kidnaps the barking dogs in his apartment building because he’s irritated by the noise and the young woman who investigates their disappearance. His next film “Memories of Murder” is based on Korea’s first serial murder in history and the two detectives who try to solve the case. Bong’s next two films – “The Host” and “Mother” – were international successes and cult hits in the United States. His last film “Snowpiercer,” about a globe-spanning train stratified by class containing the last remnants of humanity and the revolution that occurs aboard, was a critical and commercial success, ending up on many critics’ top-10 lists and becoming the tenth highest-grossing domestic film in South Korea.

“Okja” will premiere globally on Netflix in 2017 and will also have a limited day and date theatrical release in the US.
