It’s taken nearly 40 years, but Robert Redford and Jane Fonda are set to collaborate once again. The duo will appear together in Netflix’s “Our Souls at Night,” an adaptation of Kent Haruf’s novel of the same name that’s just found a director in Ritesh Batra. The pair previously appeared together in 1967’s “Barefoot in the Park” and 1979’s “The Electric Horseman.”

Haruf’s novel, which Redford brought to Netflix last year, concerns a man and woman who reconnect after both of their spouses pass away; Deadline, who first reported the news, reports that the tone of the project will be along the lines of Clint Eastwood’s “The Bridges of Madison County.” Fonda also stars in Netflix’s “Grace and Frankie” alongside Lily Tomlin.

Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber, whose prior work together includes “(500) Days of Summer” and “The Spectacular Now,” are handling the screenplay; Finola Dwyer is co-producing with Redford and Erin Simms. Batra also directed “The Lunchbox” and the upcoming “The Sense of an Ending,” which stars Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling.
