With Darren Aronofksy’s “Noah” storming into theaters this weekend, plus the arrival of a new trailer for the latest weather disaster entry “Into the Storm,” we’ve rounded up some clips from titles in the Meteorologic Mayhem genre, dominated by prescient disaster king Roland Emmerich (“The Day After Tomorrow,” “2012”).

Non-Emmerich entries include Wolfgang Petersen’s “The Perfect Storm,” Kevin Costner headliner “Waterworld,” animated “Ice Age: The Meltdown,” Juan Antonio Bayona’s emotion-wrenching portrait of the Thailand tsunami “The Impossible” (starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts) and that flying-cow ILM classic “Twister,” which helped to inaugurate sell-the-VFX-before-the-movie marketing.

What’s your fave weather disaster film? What have we left out?

For its part, “Into the Storm” is helmed by Steven Quale (“Final Destination 5”).  Richard Armitage (Thorin from the “Hobbit” films) stars. Here’s the official synopsis:

In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is
ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes.  The entire town is at the mercy of the
erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to
come.  Most people seek shelter, while
others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that
once-in-a-lifetime shot.

Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm
chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, “Into the Storm”
throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at
her most extreme.
