‘The Flash’ Movie Ditches Director: Genre Heavyweight Seth Grahame-Smith Left Because Of ‘Creative Differences’
Seth Grahame-Smith, who was set to helm the upcoming Warner Bros. “The Flash” movie, is leaving the project due to “creative differences,” The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.
The author and screenwriter of “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” was to make his directorial debut with this massive DC Entertainment superhero film. Grahame-Smith wrote the script for the project, based on a treatment from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The studio will retain his original story but will have to look for a new director to take his place.
“The Flash” has a release date of March 16, 2018 – still a ways away to find a new helmer without making any changes to the day. The action film stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, who made his debut as the scarlet-speedster in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and is currently filming “The Justice League Part One,” which will be released in 2017.
Grahame-Smith will continue to work with Warner Bros. and is a writer on “The Lego Batman Movie” and is working on the “Beetlejuice” sequel.
Over a year ago, the studio faced a similar situation when Michelle McLaren left the production of “Wonder Woman” over “creative differences” and was then replaced by Patty Jenkins. The Gal Gadot-led flick is set to open on June 2, 2017.
