Blunt plays Rachel, a divorced alcoholic in London whose loneliness inspires her to spy on a couple from afar, going so far as to make up names for the two and imagine what their lives must be like. This daydreaming eventually leads her down some dark, ill-advised paths; suffice to say that “The Girl on the Train” isn’t a comedy. All the while, Kanye West’s “Heartless” drones in the background.
