As awards season approaches at an ever-more rapid rate, The Weinstein Company has made a few changes to their upcoming schedule, including an earlier release date for Todd Haynes’ awards favorite and Cannes hit, “Carol.” The drama will now open in limited release on November 20, moving up nearly a full month from its original release date of December 18. Starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, the feature will now go up directly against the final “Hunger Games” film, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2,” but should benefit from an earlier start than was originally planned.
TWC has also pushed back their Bradley Cooper chef comedy, once known as “Adam Jones,” from October 2 to October 23. The film has also been retitled “Burnt,” marking its second title change — it was originally known as “Chef,” a name that was changed to the lead character’s name as to avoid confusion with Jon Favreau’s also-titled “Chef.” The film also stars Sienna Miller and Omar Sy.
