TIFF Buy: A24 Acquires Noah Baumbach’s ‘While We’re Young’ Starring Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts

Written and directed by Baumbach, the film features lead performances by Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried.

Per A24’s synopsis: “Baumbach’s exploration of aging, ambition, and success stars Stiller and Watts as a middle­‐aged couple whose career and marriage are overturned when a disarming young couple (Driver and Seyfried) enters their lives.”

The film, which also stars Charles Grodin, Adam Horovitz, Maria Dizzia and Ryan Serhant, received favorable notices following its premiere at TIFF. In his review of the film, Eric Kohn called it Baumbach’s “most accessible comedy to date” and singled out Stiller’s performance. “The movie offers Stiller his best role in years.”

“We are enormous fans of Noah’s and were completely won over by WHILE WE’RE YOUNG,” said A24 in the announcement. “Noah delivered a multi-­‐generational comedy that is smart, extremely funny, and incredibly insightful, and which audiences across the country will embrace.”
