Brush up your Shakespeare! The newest star-encrusted ‘Romeo and Juliet’ screen version of the Bard’s tragic romance finally has a trailer.
Penned by “Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellowes — who won the original screenplay Oscar in 2002 for Robert Altman’s high society mystery “Gosford Park” — and directed by Carlo Carlei, “Romeo and Juliet” stars Douglas Booth and Hailee Steinfeld as the eponymous lovelorn sweethearts.
Steinfeld has been carefully selecting the right big-screen follow-up to her Oscar-nominated performance in the Coen Brothers’ 2010 take on “True Grit.” Her Juliet will be lorded over by “Homeland”‘s Damian Lewis as the patriarch of the Capulets, and Paul Giamatti, Stellan Skarsgard and Ed Westwick will also star.
A UK release is slated for July 26, but no word yet on US distribution. Watch the trailer below.
