“Transformers: Age of Extinction” Continues Its Overseas Box Office Assault With $102 Million

World Cup?  We don’t need no stinkin’ World Cup.  Lionel Messi might have laid an egg this weekend but the raging box office machine known as “Transformers: Age of Extinction” grossed a whopping $102 million, upping its ante to $543 million.  China grossed $3.3 million in Imax alone, lifting the format’s overall cume to $68 million.  A stunning stat is that as of this point, North America is only 27% of the worldwide box office total on the film.  Elsewhere, Dreamworks’ “How To Train Your Dragon 2” needed another day to pass the $200 million barrier, which it eventually did last night, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” opened well in 26 markets and “Maleficent” just continues to hang in there as the film currently stands at $447 million.
