READ: Reel Red Films and Breaking Glass Acquire Ellen Burstyn-Starring ‘About Scout’
In the debut trailer for Laurie Weltz’s “About Scout,” young up-and-coming star India Ennenga (“Treme”) plays rebellious titular character, facing comedic odds of overcoming her troubled upbringing and a lack of legitimate parental supervision.
Stuck with a precociously imaginative younger sister, Tallulah (affectionately nicknamed Lulu), and a languid grandmother (played by the supremely talented Ellen Burstyn), Scout sets out to discover her own sense of being and responsibility.
Scout is determined to keep her younger sister by her side and out of the hands of child services and opportunistic relatives, leading to an impromptu “road trip” to Texas in order to rescue her sister. Tagging along for the ride is Sam Prescott and James Frencheville’s unstable character, who is bent on escaping from a nearby psychiatric clinic.
The film premiered under its original title ‘Scout’ at the Newport Beach Film Festival film in April 2015. Reel Red Films and Breaking Glass Pictures have acquired U.S. distribution rights and have slated the comedy-drama to be released on March 11.
