Watch: Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd Parody Romantic Comedies 'They Came Together' Trailer

A few weeks back, a clip was released for the newest David Wain comedy romp “They Came Together,” starring Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd. The first trailer is now available for viewing (watch below), and fans of “Wet Hot American Summer” should be happily familiar with its unrestrained, absurd brand of humor and talented group of actors. Co-written by Wain’s regular partner (and “Stella” co-creator) Michael Showalter, it’s a romantic comedy parody, from the early meet-cute of bonding over a common love for fiction to the antagonistic face splash (before they inevitably end up together).

In addition to the consistently charming Poehler and Rudd, you’ll spot other Wain regulars and TV favorites Cobie Smulders, Ken Marino, Max Greenfield, Ed Helms, Michael Ian Black, and Jason Mantzouakas.

Rating the movie a B in a mostly positive review, Indiewire wrote, “Wain has shot a comedy that hits the ceiling of silliness and bursts through the plaster for a view of the upper floor… The jokes come fast and never stop, with zany riffs and explosions of bad taste ratcheting up a high laugh quotient — sex and toilet humor abounds.”

“They Came Together” will be released in theaters and on VOD on June 27th.
