Watch: Anna Kendrick’s Official Video For “Cups” From ‘Pitch Perfect’

In case you weren’t aware, “Pitch Perfect” did pretty well, especially with the younger crowd (enough that a sequel is now in the works). The soundtrack was also a massive seller, and one of the highlights for many was “Cups” as sung by Anna Kendrick, and now (somewhat belatedly?) it has its own music video.

While the song, a cover of Lulu and the Lampshade’s “You’re Gonna Miss Me,” was sung a cappella by Kendrick in the film alongside the sound of slamming and slapping a cup, the music video features some additional instrumentation. Also, while the song is from the film, the music video itself bears no hint of a connection, which doesn’t make any sense. Why wouldn’t they just use the original scene or least make a nod to where it’s all coming from?
