Watch: CBS' 'Zoo' Trailer Goes Wild and Crazy (Hopefully Fun Way)

There are two different ways to come at the trailer for “Zoo,” CBS’ upcoming summer event series based on the book by James Patterson: One, is to take it as seriously as a thriller with extraordinary elements. The other is to embrace the show’s premise — “Whoa, so all the animals get sick of us humans, and rise up to attack? This is a real show? On a major network?” — and look forward to seeing how ridiculous it might be.

We’ll find out for sure in a month, which approach is most valid, but for now get a glimpse at what happens when animals stop being nice and start being… animals. Featuring a soulful cover of “Born to Be Wild” (because every trailer, these days, is required to use a soulful cover of a popular rock song), “Zoo” promises lots of animal-on-human violence and James Wolk with a healthy amount of facial scruff. Consider us intrigued — on one level or another.

“Zoo” premieres on CBS Tuesday, June 30 at 9pm.
