Since its debut at Telluride, Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave” has become the film to beat in the Best Picture Oscar race. Check out an exclusive clip, below, with the film’s three likely acting Oscar contenders. In the clip Patsey (Lupita Nyong’o) admits to her master Edwin Epps (Michael Fassbender), with whom she is having sex, that she went to a neighboring plantation to get a small bar of soap. The aftermath of this moment is horrific. 

The film hits theaters this weekend, October 18, via Fox Searchlight.
