Watch: James Franco's 'The Sound and the Fury' Clip Features Award-Worthy Scott Haze

James Franco may be the director and star of the upcoming screen adaptation of William Faulkner’s iconic American novel “The Sound and the Fury,” but based on the new clip that dropped today, Scott Haze’s performance looks like it might steal the show.

“The Sound and the Fury,” which will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival later this week, followed by another screening next week at the Toronto International Film Festival, tells the story of the Compsons, an aristocratic family from the South that is coming apart at the seams. The story is told from the point of view of the three Compson sons, Benjy, Quentin and Jason, who are played by Franco, Jacob Loeb and Haze, respectively.

In this clip, Jason gets into a heated argument with his niece, Miss Quentin, over her provocative attire, likening her appearance to that of a “goddamned whore.” Played by FX’s “Fargo” alum Joey King, Miss Quentin isn’t one to go down without a fight, mouthing off to her uncle without much of a second thought.

Just when it looks like the tension is going to hit a boiling point, BOOM, you’re left choking on Jason’s anger. Check out the full clip below.
