With Warner Bros. promising an imminent announcement about their planned series of films based in the DC Comics universe, it seems the studio first tried to lay the groundwork in one of last year’s most acclaimed films. And while the scene didn’t make the cut, thanks to the internet it’s here.

Of the many praises thrown toward Alfonso Cuarón‘s “Gravity,” the extended, heart-racing opening sequence really glued people to their seats and kept their eyeballs on the screen (we discussed it in our feature Ranking The 20 Greatest, Most Celebrated Long Takes). But there was an alternate version shot, one that bizarrely sandwiched in Christopher Reeve‘s incarnation of Superman, in a weird bit of world building that, obviously, makes little sense. We’ll just have to let you watch it below.

Yes, duh, this is obviously not an actual alternate opening, but April Fool’s Day was yesterday, and this was too funny not to share. [Reddit]
