Matthew Brown’s star-studden biopic “The Man Who Knew Infinity” details an unlikely friendship between self-taught mathematics genius Srinivasa Ramanujan (Dev Patel) and Professor GH Hardy (Jeremy Irons). Based on the book of the same name by Robert Kanigel and set in 1913, the film follows Hardy and Ramanujan as they forge a bond with each other and rally against prejudice in order to share Ramanujan’s mathematic ingenuity with the world.
The film is written and directed by relative newcomer Matthew Brown and also stars Devika Bhise, Stephen Fry and Toby Jones. “The Man who Knew Infinity” is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on September 17 as part of the Gala Presentation slate.
