Watch: 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' Gets Second, More Conventional Trailer

The first trailer for Ben Stiller’s ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ was a memorable experiment in contrast.

A near exclusively dialogue-free two minute preview mastered the art of music to image uniformity by taking Walter Mitty’s (Stiller) slow melody-accompanied office life through explosively instrumental Himalayan heights and ocean depths.

The film’s second trailer release offers yet another preview variation by taking the first trailer’s emphasis on tone and adapting it to context. Though the latest trailer retains some sense of mood as well as a clear depiction of the dynamically adventurous contemplations of its protagonist, it spells out Mitty’s emotional trials and tribulations, a love interest (Kirsten Wiig) whose attention he can’t seem to attract, an office staff whose respect he doesn’t seem to have. The trailer further illuminates Mitty’s day-to-day New York City private and family life coated in dullness as he remarks, “I haven’t really been anywhere noteworthy or mentionable.”

“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” is set to be released December 25 this year.
