With the Toronto International Film Festival just around the corner (it kicks off September 8), clips and trailers for the films that made the cut are dropping hard and fast. The latest: three clips from Werner Herzog’s latest anticipated documentary, “Into the Abyss,” which is making its world premiere at the festival. Last year saw Herzog unveil his phenomenally successful “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” for the first time, at the same event.
“Into the Abyss” finds the veteran documentary filmmaker delving into the legacy of a triple homicide in Texas. No 3D this time around. To flesh the story out, Herzog interviewed the victims’ families and those convicted for the crime, including one man on death row, eight days before his execution.
If that sounds intense, the clips below further drive the point home that this will be a wrenching and fascinating sit, Herzog style.
