Watch: Trailer for ‘Great Expectations’ Starring Jeremy Irvine, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and Holliday Grainger

Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations” has seen numerous film iterations over the years, the most memorable possibly being the 1998 modernized version starring Ethan Hawke and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Now director Mike Newell (“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” “Love in the Time of Cholera”) has taken the story back to its 19th century roots and gone full period costume drama. Jeremy Irvine stars as Pip, an orphan whose life is curated into that of a fine gentleman with the help of a rich benefactor (Fiennes). Helena Bonham Carter plays the wealthy spinster Miss Havisham who raises Estella (Grainger) to break Pip’s heart. 

The film premiered in the UK almost a year ago, but doesn’t hit the U.S. until Nov. 8. Check out the trailer below:
