With under a week to go before its world premiere at AFI FEST 2015, Peter Landesman’s ripped-from-the-headlines drama “Concussion” has received a new trailer touting the awards vehicle for Will Smith.
Written and directed by the “Parkland” filmmaker, “Concussion” stars Smith as Dr. Bennet Omalu, the forensic pathologist who first discovered the detrimental medical repercussions of football-related head injuries. His discovery brought to light the dark underbelly of the NFL and resulted in a legal battle between him and the league.
The movie is produced by Ridley Scott, Giannina Scott, David Wolthoff, Larry Shuman and Elizabeth Cantillon. Alec Baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Albert Brooks, Luke Wilson, Paul Reiser, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and David Morse co-star.
“Concussion” premieres at the festival on Tuesday, November 10 and hits theaters nationwide this Christmas.
