William H. Macy gets behind the camera for his filmmaking debut “Rudderless,” the gritty 2014 Sundance Film Festival drama that moved audiences on closing night.
Below, watch the first trailer for this tale of an off-the-wagon, off-the-grid ad exec (Billy Crudup) who, after discovering his dead son’s posthumous musical talent, climbs out from the hole of his grief and onto the stage alongside a budding young musician (Anton Yelchin).
“Rudderless” is one of at least three potent musical pics that captivated Sundance, including “Whiplash” and “Low Down,” all hitting theaters this Fall. Macy’s directorial debut costars Selena Gomez, Laurence Fishburne and Macy’s wife Felicity Huffman. Samuel Goldwyn Films brings the well-reviewed “Rudderless” to theaters and VOD on October 17.
